  • IRS Phishing Emails

    Our office has seen an increase in phishing scams.  The recent scams involve unsolicited emails purportedly from the IRS.  The emails reference the 2008 Stimulus Act.

    The IRS does not send unsolicited emails.  These emails are designed to get the recipient to divulge personal information that could be used to steal identities or for other unlawful purposes.

  • IRS Grants More Time for Tax Filings

    Businesses and individuals in the Gustav disaster area have until January 5, 2009 to make filings and tax payments otherwise due from September 1, 2008 through January 4 under IRS relief (IR-2008-100) issued September 5, 2008.

  • Disaster Relief Payments:

     

    Code Section 139(h) provides a basis for making disaster relief payments to employees.  Employers get a tax deduction and employees do not have to include in income.  Contact us for more details.
